CCU (MID TEST) Kezia Grace Ndraha 5.1

    MID SEMESTER TEST

    CROSS CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING

    SEMESTER V

    Name: Kezia Grace Ndraha

    NIM: 1888203054

    Class: 5.1

    QUESTIONS

    1. Please answer the questions below briefly:

    1. Give your own idea/opinions about:

    a.  Culture

Answer : In my opinion culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts which develops and is passed down from generation to generation.

    b. Interculture

Answer : In my opinion, intercultural communication is the communication that occurs between people who have different cultures (can be different races, ethnicities, or socioeconomics, or a combination of all cultures. Culture is a way of life that develops and is adopted by a group of people and lasts from generation to generation).

    c. Cross culture

Answer : In my opinion, Cross culture is a concept that recognizes the differences among business people of different nations, backgrounds and ethnicities, and the importance of bridging them

    d. Multiculture

Answer : Multicultural is a concept that recognizes and glorifies differences, individual differences or cultural differences, such as differences in values, systems, culture, habits, and politics.

    2. Give one example of cultural conflict and offer the solution for its adjustment!

Answer :  For example, it is commonly understood that Japanese negotiators tend to have more silent periods during their talks than, say, Brazilians. That said, there is still a great deal of variability within each culture—meaning that some Brazilians speak less than some Japanese do.

Thus, it would be a mistake to expect a Japanese negotiator you have never met to be reserved. But if it turns out that a negotiator is especially quiet, you might better understand her behavior and change your negotiating approach in light of the prototype. In addition, awareness of your own cultural prototypes can help you anticipate how your counterpart might interpret your bargaining behavior. It’s not just about being aware of their culture, but also how yours might be viewed.

    How to deal with it:

    1. Learn a few key phrases. Because clear communication is essential for effective functioning, it is necessary that each of your employees

    2. understand what your clients and customers need.

    3. Learn your client's culture.

    4.  Promote appreciation of cultural differences.

    5. Be open to trying new things.

    6. Be accommodating.

    3. How do you define:

    a. Mosaic

Answer : Mosaic is the art of creating images by arranging small colored pieces of glass, stone, or other materials that can be used to become Mosaics. This art is a technique in the art of decoration and is also an aspect of interior decoration.

    b. Melting pot

Answer : The melting pot is a metaphor for a heterogeneous society becoming more homogenous the different elements "melting together" into a harmonious whole with a common culture

    c. Stereotype

Answer : Stereotypes are decisions about a person based solely on perceptions of the group in which the person can be categorized or stereotypes are shortcuts to thinking that are intuitively used by humans to simplify complex things and help in making decisions quickly

    d. Prejudice

Answer : Prejudice is a decision or judgment made without knowing the actual relevant facts. This term refers to a judgment based on a person's race or other fields before having relevant information on which to base that judgment. Prejudice can take the form of feelings of dislike, anger, disgust, discomfort and even hatred. And in the end, prejudice can lead to discrimination in certain social groups.

    Some way to prevent Covid-19

Corona virus (Covid-19 )  is a collection of viruses that can infect the respiratory system. In many cases, this virus only causes mild respiratory infections, such as flu. However, this virus can also cause severe respiratory infections, such as lung infections (pneumonia)

WHO (world health organization) has determined the corona virus outbreak as a global pandemic, the first time this corona virus occurred in God, so that in Indonesia as one of the most exposed countries, where the number of victims continues to grow with the spread and transmission that is getting faster and large. The corona virus case was first announced by President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace on March 2, 2020. Every day it is increasing, both in numbers and in areas affected by the virus. Until now Corona positive case data has been submitted by a government spokesman to handle COVID-19 Dr. Achmad Yurianto, in a press conference that was broadcast live on BNPB YouTube, Sunday (05/17/2020). This data is collected until 12.00 WIB. Of the 17,514 positive cases, 4,129 patients recovered and 1,148 died. Which means that in this era the population of productive age will be more than unproductive age. The demographic bonus is a momentum and a good opportunity for Indonesia to increase global productivity and competitiveness which has implications for the country's progress. in achieving this, of course what needs to be emphasized is building a dynamic, creative, innovative and advanced quality of human resources (HR). The nation and people of Indonesia now have high hopes for Indonesian youth because they are one of the spearheads of Indonesia's future progress. Therefore, new ideas, ideas and breakthroughs are needed through movements for change, as well as providing solutions and concrete actions for all existing problems. In this condition, of course the role of youth through smart ideas and concrete solutions is needed by the people of Indonesia.

The first, Young people become the activator of Social Distance. Social restrictions are keeping a distance of at least two meters from others and avoiding crowds to prevent transmission of disease. Why do we have to do social distancing? A series of social distancing actions are predicted to prevent sick people from making contact with others, and the most important thing is to reduce or suppress the spread of COVID-19. Then, what is the relationship between social distancing with young people? This is where our role as young people is needed. It is appropriate for young people to be a good example to implement this social restriction, not vice versa, such as reminding families not to leave the house if not necessary, maintaining health and encouraging activities at home.

Secondly, young people become agents of change. That is, those who drive the transformation of this world for the better through effectiveness, improvement and development. Through technology, intensify, encourage, and educate as actively as possible. Appeal as often as possible preventive measures. Be a volunteer for those around you who need food and drug support while maintaining the principle of social restrictions.

In addition, divert the budget for a walk for charity. Which means that the money we usually use for sightseeing trips, we can give shopping to help people who are less able, help medical workers by paying attention to them.

Therefore, we as young people must be an example for them. So,"We have to start from ourselves”. With our efforts or the right way to follow health protocols and follow the rules that have been given, quickly also the spread of the corona virus will decrease.

    1. Paragraph essay data
According to CNN Indonesia, citing that in the data presented by the Ministry of Communication and Information, there are 800 thousand sites in Indonesia that are indicated as spreading false news and expressing hatred (hate) (Pratama, 2016). The Ministry of Communication and Information has also succeeded in 773 thousand sites in 2016 based on 10 groups. The ten groups include pornography, racial intolerance, illegal conversation, drugs, gambling, radicalism, violence, children, internet security, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Of that amount, the most is pornography (Jamaludin, 2016).

    2. Original text
hoaks or hoaxes are hoax news or non-sourced news. Hoax is information that is actually not true, but is made as if it were true. This is seen with so much hoax information. Misleading hoax news circulates through various digital channels, including online media sites, blogs, websites, social media, e-mail and instant messaging applications. The spread of hoaxes on the internet is actually not a problem that only occurs in Indonesia. In fact, the United States even experienced serious problems related to the spread of hoaxes on social media, especially Facebook and Twitter.
What simple actions can we take so as not to join in spreading hoaxes? The following tips:
    1. Be careful with provocative titles
The news hoax often uses a sensational and provocative title. The contents can also be taken from official media news, which are altered to create the desired perception of the hoax news maker.
    2. Pay attention to Site Address
For information obtained from the website or including a link, check the URL address of the site in question. If it comes from a site that has not been verified as an official press institution, for example using a blog domain, the information is arguably dubious. According to Press Council records, in Indonesia there are around 43,000 sites that claim to be news portals.
    3. Check the Facts
You need to pay attention to where the news is obtained. Is it from an official institution such as the KPK or the National Police. You should not easily believe if the information comes from CSO activists, political figures or observers.
    4. Check the Authenticity of Photos
In the current era of digital technology, not only text content can be manipulated, but also other content in the form of photos or videos. There are times when fake news makers also edit photos to provoke readers.
    5. Participate in Anti Hoax Discussion Groups
On Facebook there are a number of anti-hoax fanpage and discussion groups, for example the Anti-Defamation, Hasut and Hoax (FAFHH) Forum, Indonesian Hoax Buster Fanpage & Group, Indonesian Hoaxes Fanpage, and the Lifeboat Group.
    3. The results of paraphrase
Hoax is news that we often see but the news is not appropriate, does not have clear facts or can be said fake news whose information is not true, but the news is made as if it were true / reality carried out by unscrupulous elements. smart way to overcome so that users or listeners of social media avoid hoax news.
    - First, be careful with provocative headlines. In news, usually a hoax will begin by using provocative titles with sensational intentions in order to provoke readers or listeners. Often giving provocative sensational titles, for example by pointing directly certain parties. Content in the news is often quoted from other official media and adjusted to their needs by making the content as interesting as possible. Therefore, if you find a provocative headline, you should look for references that have clear facts or in the form Similar news from the official online site, then compares the contents of the two, whether they are the same or different. In this way, the reader can at least reach a more precise or balanced conclusion.
    - As for, participating in anti-hoax discussion groups. On social media that are already available such as Facebook there are already a number of anti-hoax fanpage and discussion groups. In this discussion group, netizens can join to ask whether the information is true or not, and get clerication given by others. (https://www.cnnindonesia.com/teknologi/20161201200807-185-176705/lima-cara-anticipasi-berita-hoax-di-media-social/) the government acts through the ministry of communication and technology information to promote educational programs for the use of social media hereby users can use social media responsibly and not cheat or hate.
    - Therefore, check the correct data or facts. By checking the data or news, we will avoid hoax news. Before we have to know where the news came from? who is the source of the news? is it from an official institution or not? if not, don't be quick to believe the news, pay attention to the balance of the news source. The thing we need to pay attention to in choosing the right news is in terms of the difference between news based on facts and opinions. A fact is something that happens based on clear evidence because with evidence it can strengthen the results of the news while opinions are thoughts or opinions of someone about the news so it tends to be subjective.

Consequently, we as a people who often see the news and who use existing social media we must be smart and able to filter news well and wisely so that we do not misunderstand the news. If you are curious about news that is still in doubt, ask the colleagues from news sources. Finally, let's say "Stop" to hoax news.

Body 3 : Check the facts
Conclusion : Therefore, we as a smart society we must be able to filter a news well and wisely. This means let us respond to an information or news, lest we are consumed with hoax news. Hold yourself if it is doubtful, then if necessary ask colleagues from the source of the news. Provide education about the dangers of hoax news. Finally say let's say "no" to hoaxes

    *Pragraph

    Stop be hoax slave

According to Werme (2016), hoaxes are false news that contain information that deliberately misleads people and has a certain political agenda. Hoaks are not just misleading, information in fake news also has no factual basis, but is presented as a series of facts. Today, hoaxes are fake news that often appears on the internet and has the aim to spread panic and mass fear. Activities carried out by a number of irresponsible persons. Especially with the development of technology, especially on smartphones and social media, the types of hoaxes on the internet are increasingly numerous and dangerous. If not careful, cyberspace users or netizens can easily be consumed by hoax hoaxes. In fact, it can even help to spread hoaxes, which of course would be very detrimental to victims of defamation. There are ways to anticipate or ward off hoax news.

The first,Be careful with provocative titles.
hoaxes usually use provocative and sensational titles in accordance with their purpose of provoking their readers. Often affixing provocative sensational titles, for example by directly pointing to certain parties. The contents are often quoted from other official media and adjusted to their needs. Therefore, if you encounter news with provocative titles, you should look for references in the form of similar news from the official online site, then compare the contents, whether they are the same or different. This way, at least the reader can reach a more balanced conclusion.

Secondly, take part in an anti-hoax discussion group.
In these discussion groups, netizens can join in asking whether an information is a hoax or not, as well as looking at the clarification that has been given by others. All members can contribute so that the group functions like crowdsourcing that utilizes the power of many people.
The government itself through the ministry of communication and information technology is promoting education and literacy programs for users of social media. This is important so that users can use responsibly and not be inundated with hoaxes or hate speech. In line with the program as a teacher who is the spearhead in education has a vital role in anticipating and combating hoax news.

    As for,Check the facts.
Where does the news come from? Who is the source? Is it from an official institution such as the KPK or the National Police? if not, do not believe quickly if the information comes from activists, political figures, or CSO observers. Pay attention to the balance of news sources. If there is only one source, the reader cannot get the whole picture. Another thing to note is the difference between news that is based on facts and opinions. Facts are events that occur with testimony and evidence, because with the evidence it reinforces the results of the news while opinions are opinions and impressions of news writers so they tend to be subjective.

Therefore, we as a smart society we must be able to filter a news well and wisely. This means let us respond to an information or news, lest we are consumed with hoax news. Hold yourself if it is doubtful, then if necessary ask colleagues from the source of the news. Provide education about the dangers of hoax news. Finally say let's say "no" to hoaxes
